At 1st level, you gain the ability to alter the effects of pain. You gain a number of suffering points equal to 1 + your cleric level.
When you take damage, or when you deal damage with a weapon attack, you can spend a number of suffering points to increase or decrease the damage dealt. The maximum number of points you can spend at once is equal to your proficiency bonus. For each point spent, roll 1d4. The total rolled is applied as a penalty or bonus to the damage roll (your choice each time you use this feature.
You regain all of your suffering points whenever you finish a long rest.
You also gain proficiency with the Whip.
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to take on the pain meant for others.
When a creature within 30 feet of you would take damage, you can use your reaction to magically take that damage instead; this damage can't be reduced in any way. This feature also transfers any other effects that might accompany the damage, treating you as if you were the original target of the attack or effect.
At 6th level, when a creature within 30 feet of you takes damage or deals damage with a weapon attack, you can use your reaction to spend suffering dice to affect the roll as if you were the target or were dealing the damage.
You are blessed with divine might in battle. Starting at 8th level, once per round, when you would deal damage to a creature with a weapon attack or a cleric cantrip, you may deal an additional 1d8 points of damage of a type appropriate for you domain (see Narrator). At 14th level, the additional damage with weapon attacks increases to 2d8 (cantrips still only deal an additional 1d8).
Beginning at 17th level, damage that would break your will or render you senseless has no effect. You gain the following benefits:
You no longer need to make concentration checks as a result of taking damage
You don't fall unconscious as a results of having 0 hit points. You must still make death saving throws and can die as normal.
